Stationary Sparring #1: Davin and Freddie 4 videos (Freddie’s Modern Kung Fu 2010)
This is our safe and healthy way to spar. Light contact to the face because of it’s sensitivity and more contact to the legs and body b/c they can take more damage. We have decided that it is best for us to stay as stationary as possible with minimal circular movements so that we can display more techniques to the audience by forcing us to be at close range with one another. Notice we are not fighting out of anger nor do we wish to hurt one another. We are trying to help each other improve by simply being a moving target that hits back. Davin James has been training in the Martial Arts since 1995. He was heavily inspired by Bruce Lee and he also expresses his owninterpretation of Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kune Do. Freddie and Davin have been training with one another since the year 2002. Freddie has founded Freddies Modern Kung Fu in 2009, an online Martial Arts Academy on YouTube, that expresses his interpretation of Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kune Do. His private underground school is located in Chicago, IL. Fitness and Philosophy lessons are open to the public. Survival technique lessons are only open to official disciples. All techniques are scientifically proven to be effective and are aimed towards unarmed street survival combat. Freddie hand selects disciples to personally train that have the proper discipline and compassionate heart to become successful in his art. If you are interested in becoming an online disciple of Freddies Modern Kung Fu, check his playlist …

No one should attempt to try these techniques without being trained and supervised by a qualified person. He who loses himself in his passion, has lost less than one who has lost his passion. For all intents and purposes, eskrima, arnis and kali all refer to the same family of Filipino weapon-based martial arts. In Luzon they may go by the name of arnis, arnis de mano, sinawali, pagkalikali, panandata (usage of weapons), didya, kabaroan (blade usage) and kaliradman. In the Visayas and Mindanao, these martial arts have been referred to as eskrima, kali and kalirongan. Lars Lömke Kutaw and Silat are separate martial arts that have been practiced in the islands. When the Spaniards began colonizing the Philippines, they saw an already-developed weapons-based martial arts practiced by the natives. The name eskrima came from the Spanish word for “fencing” (ie, any form of hand-to-hand combat with bladed weapons). After the decree prohibiting the native to carry full-sized swords (such as the Kris and the Kamplian), the Maharlika (the ancient nobility class) preserved the art. To circumvent the decree, some practitioners used sticks made out of rattan rather than swords, as well as small knives wielded like a sword.
