Martial Arts Odyssey: San Da (San Shau) Fighters (Part 1)

Fighting in the Malaysian Fighting Championships (MFC) Brooklyn Monk, Antonio Graceffo, cross trains with San Da champion and formidable MMA fighter, Raymond Tiew. San Da, Chinese kickboxing, has many advantages over Muay Thai. Since most MMA fighters have cross trained in Muay Thai, a San Da fighter has the advantage of looking different and surprising his opponent with unexpected attacks. San Da utilizes more straight kicks than most Muay Thai, with knockouts often coming from straight kicks to the head and face. San Da fighters are experts at catching an opponent’s kick and throwing him. Most MMA fighters would then follow the man to the ground and win by choke, submission, or ground and pound. Raymond prefers to remain standing and punch the downed opponent. One of the coolest techniques in San Da is the lift and throw, the body slam. The primary advantage that Muay Thai fighters have had over San Da fighters in MMA has been experience. There are more opportunities for Muay Thai guys to fight each year than there are for San Da fighters, unless they live in China. But the art, San Da, is worth taking a look at. Antonio Graceffo is self-funded and needs donation to continue his writing and video work. To support the project you can donate through the paypal link on his website, www.speakingadventure.com Brooklyn Monk, Antonio Graceffo is a martial arts and adventure author living in Asia. He is the author of the books, “Warrior Odyssey’ and “The Monk from Brooklyn.” He

Stationary Sparring #1: Davin and Freddie 4 videos (Freddie’s Modern Kung Fu 2010)

This is our safe and healthy way to spar. Light contact to the face because of it’s sensitivity and more contact to the legs and body b/c they can take more damage. We have decided that it is best for us to stay as stationary as possible with minimal circular movements so that we can display more techniques to the audience by forcing us to be at close range with one another. Notice we are not fighting out of anger nor do we wish to hurt one another. We are trying to help each other improve by simply being a moving target that hits back. Davin James has been training in the Martial Arts since 1995. He was heavily inspired by Bruce Lee and he also expresses his owninterpretation of Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kune Do. Freddie and Davin have been training with one another since the year 2002. Freddie has founded Freddies Modern Kung Fu in 2009, an online Martial Arts Academy on YouTube, that expresses his interpretation of Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kune Do. His private underground school is located in Chicago, IL. Fitness and Philosophy lessons are open to the public. Survival technique lessons are only open to official disciples. All techniques are scientifically proven to be effective and are aimed towards unarmed street survival combat. Freddie hand selects disciples to personally train that have the proper discipline and compassionate heart to become successful in his art.
