Why would you choose a traditional martial art if you could do boxing, kickboxing or mma?

The amateur boxing club where I train shares the community hall with various traditional martial arts clubs, my question is why would anyone bother to train in a traditional martial arts club when they could do boxing, kickboxing or mma?

In my experience traditional martial arts suck (i trained taekwondo for 3 years) whereas boxing etc are very effective.

Stretching for martial arts?

I’m going to a martial arts club this week (It’s definitly not a mcdojo!) so I would like to get into the habit of stretching again! I know the stretches I need to do but I’m not sure when to do them. When I wake up in the morning I normally I’m very ‘tight’ and can’t stretch very far so what kind of warm ups can I do to get warmed up for stretching and what time of day should I do them?

Thanks for your help!

Is it right for a martial artist to screw a man's family, friends, and martial arts family … ?

Is it right for a martial artist to screw a man’s family, friends, and martial arts family and walk off with deeds from a man’s deceased wife and physician?

Any martial arts club and federation supporting such things should be disowned!

The martial arts practice was based on honor codes.

How can I make my own punching bag and equipment like that?

I am starting a martial arts club at my school which just became an after school program because my school liked it so much =D
But the problem is that we can’t have any contact on any type, we can’t even use punching bags or pads!
I was really disappointed when I heard this but the officer of public school safety told me that "if this program gets big and another school does this, then I can let you have punching bags and pads."
I was really excited when he told me, and he also said that for now I should find other ways to hit stuff. he suggested that I tape balloons together and use dodge balls to throw at my students and have them block them. These ideas are good but I need more.
Do any of you have any suggestion?

what is the best way to get parents to volunteer in minor sports or with events of their childs activities?

Im in very family oriented martial arts club. The rates are the most reasonable of all sports in our community, and the parents are good to offer help initially….But when it comes down to needing help with equipment cleaning, cleaning after tournaments, etc….no one steps up…maybe 1 or two and we have an 80 + club…so we are considering increasing our rates…but really dont want to. I need to get the students and parents to help out more. The whole point is to make it affordable so the whole family can participate and the kids are introduced to a very positive and character building environment. However there is 2 of us running it 3 times a week and we both have careers and families…..the tournaments we hold and other activities take alot out of us preparing then having to clean up and such…
Parents have been asked and before tournaments we do have a volunteer sign up sheet….everyone says yes I will…then dont sign up…and ive had some back out of their sign ups last minute. Everyone has great intentions…

Ramadan: Is it a sin to join a Mix Martial arts club?

I am 16 years old and I am a religious Muslim Alhamdulliah. I recently joined a Mixed Martial Arts club in Toronto Canada. I was wondering if it is Haram. MMA is basically like boxing, but the difference is that in MMA we can add other martial arts, like Taekwondo, Karate, Kung Fu, Wushu, Judu, Muay Thai, and other arts.

I was wondering if it is haram because this game is some kind of violent, we do not wear helmets, we can punch, kick to the face or the body. We can even knockout by a punch or make the opponent pass out for 2 minutes or less by chocking unless he taps out. But in MMA players should respect the other players, we do not hate each other. But in this sport the more violent the player is the better he is.

Is it haram? I mean, Mike Tyson and Muhammed Ali are both Muslims and they are one of the most violent boxers the history have witnessed.
