Why martial arts outdoor ?

No one should attempt to try these techniques without being trained and supervised by a qualified person. He who loses himself in his passion, has lost less than one who has lost his passion. For all intents and purposes, eskrima, arnis and kali all refer to the same family of Filipino weapon-based martial arts. In Luzon they may go by the name of arnis, arnis de mano, sinawali, pagkalikali, panandata (usage of weapons), didya, kabaroan (blade usage) and kaliradman. In the Visayas and Mindanao, these martial arts have been referred to as eskrima, kali and kalirongan. Lars Lömke Kutaw and Silat are separate martial arts that have been practiced in the islands. When the Spaniards began colonizing the Philippines, they saw an already-developed weapons-based martial arts practiced by the natives. The name eskrima came from the Spanish word for “fencing” (ie, any form of hand-to-hand combat with bladed weapons). After the decree prohibiting the native to carry full-sized swords (such as the Kris and the Kamplian), the Maharlika (the ancient nobility class) preserved the art. To circumvent the decree, some practitioners used sticks made out of rattan rather than swords, as well as small knives wielded like a sword. Martial Arts Odyssey: Bokator MMA Fight Prep (Part 2)

In the summer of 2011, Antonio Graceffo agreed to fight in Mayhem II MMA tournament in Malaysia. He trained the first two weeks in Thailand, then returned to Cambodia to do fight prep with the Khmer Bokator team and with Paddy Carson at Paddy’s Fight Club, Phnom Penh. Eventually, he arranged for the Khmer Bokator team to also send three fighters to Malaysia to compete. This would be the first time any of the four had fought in an MMA fight. An unconventional team, Antonio would be turning 44 a few days before the tournament. The four, Antonio Graceffo, Tun Serey, Kong Ravy, and Say Tevin trained together, grappling, every morning at the Bokator Academy, assisted by Sarin Sebire, the captain of the French Bokator team, who acted as grappling coach. After ten days of training, Antonio was offered the chance to prepare at K-1 Fight Factory, Phnom Penh. This three part video series shows the training at the Bokator Academy.
