Stationary Sparring #1: Davin and Freddie 4 videos (Freddie’s Modern Kung Fu 2010)

This is our safe and healthy way to spar. Light contact to the face because of it’s sensitivity and more contact to the legs and body b/c they can take more damage. We have decided that it is best for us to stay as stationary as possible with minimal circular movements so that we can display more techniques to the audience by forcing us to be at close range with one another. Notice we are not fighting out of anger nor do we wish to hurt one another. We are trying to help each other improve by simply being a moving target that hits back. Davin James has been training in the Martial Arts since 1995. He was heavily inspired by Bruce Lee and he also expresses his owninterpretation of Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kune Do. Freddie and Davin have been training with one another since the year 2002. Freddie has founded Freddies Modern Kung Fu in 2009, an online Martial Arts Academy on YouTube, that expresses his interpretation of Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kune Do. His private underground school is located in Chicago, IL. Fitness and Philosophy lessons are open to the public. Survival technique lessons are only open to official disciples. All techniques are scientifically proven to be effective and are aimed towards unarmed street survival combat. Freddie hand selects disciples to personally train that have the proper discipline and compassionate heart to become successful in his art. whats with these people?

i take taekwondo and i love martial arts. recently ive been really frustrated with lots of people who think they know about martial arts. the most annoying thing is when people say a certain style is not affective. most of the people saying that dont even take the style so how would you know? also i hate how people think martial arts is all about learning how to beat someone up. martial arts were created to teach self defence and other principles to make a better person. mma organizations like ufc and pride shouldnt be called really martial arts. they learn ma to beat the other people up for money and glory. people thinking that sparring is fighting bugs me too. i have a friend who asks what is the purpose of sparring if you aren’t trying to beat the other person up as much as you can. sparring is an activity that builds strength, focus, technique, speed, sportsmanship, and reflex. it’s not just a fight with protective gear.people who dont know ma should shut up
thank u

How can I fight better in sparring?

I take Americanised tae kwon do, and i just got my green belt, which means i start sparring. I’m usually a violent girl anyway, but when i start sparring, I PANIC! i don’t get it! i mean, i sort of do — i think i’m afraid of hurting the other students, but we’re all wearing safety gear. i know they definitely aren’t scared of hurting me (a runt hit me in the liver), and i try to hit them back, but i can’t calm down. my teach plays music, so i try to get my flow going with it, but my legs get tired from hopping around (which we do anyway) and i get a little nauseous after a while and have to take constant breaks. i was working up a pretty good technique where i was going to follow up with a kick, but … i choked. i need to calm down, i think, but i can’t, and i keep swinging (which is NEVER a good thing to do) instead of blocking and punching real slow. there’s this kid in my class who i’m determined to beat, and even though he’s arrogant, he’s really good. HE MAKES ME SO MAD!!! he’s actually my rival i guess. i have a friend there so i can spar with her, too, and she says i hit hard. i need some way to calm down without stopping in the fight, and i need to get out of the habit of swinging and panicking. how can i do this? i keep feeling like i’m disappointing someone and i don’t know who.
the reason he makes me mad isn’t really because i want to beat the crap out of him. it’s because he went easy on me. it hurt my pride. badly. and i try to put my heart and soul into two things: my martial arts and my writing. i have a rivalry that isn’t something like i want to kill him, more like i just don’t want him to be so arrogant. i understand the black belts going easy, but we’re the same belt. it makes me irritated that he went easy on me. i don’t care i get my @$$ handed to me, i’d rather he went all out.

and i don’t have a crush on him, it’s someone nicer.
