Self-defense Unbreakable Umbrella from Real-Self-Defense.com

www.real-self-defense.com The Unbreakable Umbrella from Real-Self-Defense.com works just as well as a walking stick or cane but does not make you look funny or feel awkward. Whacks just as strong as a steel pipe but it weighs only 1 lb. and 9 oz. (710 g). And yes, this umbrella resists the wind and will keep you dry in rain just like the best umbrella should. www.UnbreakableUmbrella.com

high school martial arts club name?

I am starting a martial arts club at school.
For the sake of getting approval, on paper it says it is to instruct students in an effective means of self defense and unfortunately will be non-contact.
There will not be any specific style.
The school is Skyline High School and our mascot is a coyote.
Any ideas for a name?

Taekwondo testing tips and requirements.?

I’m currently at a red belt and will be testing soon for a red/black belt. At my academy, we have to know our Patterns (poomse from white to current level), Self defense ( from white belt to our current level), 1 step sparring, 3 step sparring, and be able to break a board. At my academy you have to do a certain amount of pushups, sit-ups, leg lifts, and squats to pass the physical health test. How many do you think I should have to do at my level? I’m also 15 years old.

Opinions about no contact sparring and competitions in TAE KWON DO instead of light or full contact?

I saw at tkd school one time that did no contact sparring. I thought that was odd because all I was familiar with was light and full contact sparring in tae kwon do.

They explained to me this is "traditional tae kwon do." So, did some research, their are other schools out there that say and do the same thing. They refere to themselves as "traditional tkd" and do no contact sparring and competitions only (or for the most part anyway).

Is no contact sparring really a bunch of bunk? Is it somehow "better" than, say light or, even full contact?

I was reading a tkd book, by a 4th degree Korean black belt, written in 1983, that totally advocated this method of tae kwon do over light and full contact. He said light contact was unrealistic. It was unrealistic because they score a point then stop, over and over, until 3 points is acculmulated. He said no contact keeps a sparring match fluid, going, non stop, in contrast. He mentioned that full contact, was artificial because of all the safety gear they wear. He says in no contact they wear no protective armour which is more realistic. He also said no contact can still make hard contact if need be, in self defense, if they supplement by hitting hard objects (ie a heavy bag or tree).

Is traditional no contact tae kwon do worth it compared to the others? Is their a method to the madness? Do they have any real advantages over the other types?
